UNSEEN SHORTAGE

Can you guess that with all the plenty that we know is around,

With everything material it seems in plentiful supply - unbound

With no limitation to life's material things that over - stack the shelves

As if there are forty-hour days, everyone working hard, like elves,

There is a problem of which many of us may not be quite aware,

That alone is causing many others to sustain some loss of their hair,

Imagine what oversupply has done to some, if not all of us,

Who demand of others all their time, attention and fuss,

"Do this!", "Do that!". "Indeed!", "I say!", and "I must ask it!".

"Why haven't you gone on, filling up my "Want Basket"?

HEY! - take time off from this ego war you continue to wage,

Let someone else climb up and move themselves to center stage,

Enter a room with silent appearance, except to say, "Hi"!

Try to e still and quiet, try to not interrupt the talk of the other guy,

You know, you were not designated as the main actor supreme,

You drink the milk, let another get a cup of the cream,

Think - in your time, you probably have received attention enough,

Your personality is sated with satisfaction, loaded with stuff,

It is time to give others in the audience a fair and welcome break,

You may find that a lot of your relationships are likely at stake,

Sit back and listen a while, others would welcome the change in you,

They'd like to see some APPRECIATION from you, it is due,

They too need expression, a great need to be the one to be heard,

You may have become, to some of them at least, a confirmed "nerd",

Remember the rhyme, "Two, four, six, eight, who do you appreciate"?

You should - the other person: an associate, a friend, a lover, a wife,

Give the others a chance, it's bound to GIVE YOU A MUCH BETTER LIFE
